The Holy Quran 46:29 — Surah Al-Ahqaf

Arabic text

وَإِذْ صَرَفْنَآ إِلَيْكَ نَفَرًا مِّنَ ٱلْجِنِّ يَسْتَمِعُونَ ٱلْقُرْءَانَ فَلَمَّا حَضَرُوهُ قَالُوٓا۟ أَنصِتُوا۟ ۖ فَلَمَّا قُضِىَ وَلَّوْا۟ إِلَىٰ قَوْمِهِم مُّنذِرِينَ

Translation

(O Rasulullaah ﷺ! Mention to people the time) When We turned a group of the Jinn towards you (as you led the Fajr salaah) to attentively listen to the Qur'aan. When they presented themselves to listen, they said (to each other), "Be silent (so that we may listen properly)." When the recitation was complete, they returned to their people as warners (inviting them to Islaam).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واذكر -أيها الرسول- حين بعثنا إليك، طائفة من الجن يستمعون منك القرآن، فلما حضروا، ورسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم يقرأ، قال بعضهم لبعض: أنصتوا; لنستمع القرآن، فلما فرغ الرسول من تلاوة القرآن، وقد وعَوه وأثَّر فيهم، رجعوا إلى قومهم منذرين ومحذرين لهم بأس الله، إن لم يؤمنوا به.
