The Holy Quran 44:11 — Surah Ad-Dukhan

Arabic text

يَغْشَى ٱلنَّاسَ ۖ هَـٰذَا عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Translation

...which will envelope (affect all) the people (of Makkah). This is a painful punishment (This affected the people of Makkah when Rasulullaah and the Muslims were already living in Madinah.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فانتظر -أيها الرسول- بهؤلاء المشركين يوم تأتي السماء بدخان مبين واضح يعمُّ الناس، ويقال لهم: هذا عذاب مؤلم موجع، ثم يقولون سائلين رفعه وكشفه عنهم: ربنا اكشف عنا العذاب، فإن كشفته عنا فإنا مؤمنون بك.
