The Holy Quran 40:50 — Surah Ghafir

Arabic text

قَالُوٓا۟ أَوَلَمْ تَكُ تَأْتِيكُمْ رُسُلُكُم بِٱلْبَيِّنَـٰتِ ۖ قَالُوا۟ بَلَىٰ ۚ قَالُوا۟ فَٱدْعُوا۟ ۗ وَمَا دُعَـٰٓؤُا۟ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ إِلَّا فِى ضَلَـٰلٍ

Translation

They (the keepers of Jahannam) will ask, "Did your Rusul not come to you with clear signs (miracles to prove that they were Allaah's true Ambiyaa عليهم الصلاة والسلام?)" They (the people in Jahannam) will reply, "Certainly." They (the keepers) will then say, "Then you (continue to) pray (for relief from punishment). (However), The prayer of the Kaafiroon is lost (your plea will never be answered)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قال خزنة جهنم لهم توبيخًا: هذا الدعاء لا ينفعكم في شيء، أو لم تأتكم رسلكم بالحجج الواضحة من الله فكذبتموهم؟ فاعترف الجاحدون بذلك وقالوا: بلى. فتبرأ خزنة جهنم منهم وقالوا: نحن لا ندعو لكم، ولا نشفع فيكم، فادعوا أنتم، ولكن هذا الدعاء لا يغني شيئًا؛ لأنكم كافرون. وما دعاء الكافرين إلا في ضياع لا يُقبل، ولا يُستجاب.
