The Holy Quran 3:69 — Surah Ali 'Imran

Arabic text

وَدَّت طَّآئِفَةٌ مِّنْ أَهْلِ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ لَوْ يُضِلُّونَكُمْ وَمَا يُضِلُّونَ إِلَّآ أَنفُسَهُمْ وَمَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Translation

A group of the Ahlul Kitaab yearn (have a strong desire) to lead you (Muslims) astray (but Allaah will protect the Muslims from the plots of the Kuffaar). They lead only themselves astray (by falling deeper into kufr and accumulating sins to their names) but they do not realise it (do not understand presently).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

تمنَّت جماعة من اليهود والنصارى لو يضلونكم -أيها المسلمون- عن الإسلام، وما يضلون إلا أنفسهم وأتباعهم، وما يدرون ذلك ولا يعلمونه.
