The Holy Quran 3:106 — Surah Ali 'Imran

Arabic text

يَوْمَ تَبْيَضُّ وُجُوهٌ وَتَسْوَدُّ وُجُوهٌ ۚ فَأَمَّا ٱلَّذِينَ ٱسْوَدَّتْ وُجُوهُهُمْ أَكَفَرْتُم بَعْدَ إِيمَـٰنِكُمْ فَذُوقُوا۟ ٱلْعَذَابَ بِمَا كُنتُمْ تَكْفُرُونَ

Translation

...on the day (of Qiyaamah) when some faces will be illuminated (bright with joy because they belonged to the Ahlus Sunnah wal Jamaa'ah) while others shall be gloomy (depressed and scared because of their kufr, hypocrisy and impiety). As for those whose faces shall be gloomy, it will be said to them (to reprimand them), "Did you commit kufr after having Imaan? (apostates, hypocrites, unbelievers, innovators, sinners, transgressors) So taste the punishment because you committed kufr."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يوم القيامة تَبْيَضُّ وجوه أهل السعادة الذين آمنوا بالله ورسوله، وامتثلوا أمره، وتَسْوَدُّ وجوه أهل الشقاوة ممن كذبوا رسوله، وعصوا أمره. فأما الذين اسودَّت وجوههم، فيقال لهم توبيخًا: أكفرتم بعد إيمانكم، فاخترتم الكفر على الإيمان؟ فذوقوا العذاب بسبب كفركم.
