The Holy Quran 39:6 — Surah Az-Zumar

Arabic text

خَلَقَكُم مِّن نَّفْسٍ وَٰحِدَةٍ ثُمَّ جَعَلَ مِنْهَا زَوْجَهَا وَأَنزَلَ لَكُم مِّنَ ٱلْأَنْعَـٰمِ ثَمَـٰنِيَةَ أَزْوَٰجٍ ۚ يَخْلُقُكُمْ فِى بُطُونِ أُمَّهَـٰتِكُمْ خَلْقًا مِّنۢ بَعْدِ خَلْقٍ فِى ظُلُمَـٰتٍ ثَلَـٰثٍ ۚ ذَٰلِكُمُ ٱللَّهُ رَبُّكُمْ لَهُ ٱلْمُلْكُ ۖ لَآ إِلَـٰهَ إِلَّا هُوَ ۖ فَأَنَّىٰ تُصْرَفُونَ

Translation

He has created you (mankind) from a single soul (Aadam عليه الصلاة والسلام), after which He made a spouse (Hawwa) from the soul, and also made eight pairs (male and female) for you from the livestock animals (camels, cows, sheep and goats). Allaah creates you in the wombs of your mothers, as a creation after a creation (taking you through various stages of foetal development as described in Sura An'aam) in three (layers of) darkness (the abdomen, the womb, and the membrane in which the foetus develops). That is Allaah, your Rabb, to Whom all kingdoms belong. There is none worthy of worship but Him, so where are you turning to? (Why are you turning to worship other gods when it is Allaah Who gave you everything?)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

خلقكم ربكم -أيها الناس- من آدم، وخلق منه زوجه، وخلق لكم من الأنعام ثمانية أنواع ذكرًا وأنثى من الإبل والبقر والضأن والمعز، يخلقكم في بطون أمهاتكم طورًا بعد طور من الخلق في ظلمات البطن، والرحم، والمَشِيمَة، ذلكم الله الذي خلق هذه الأشياء، ربكم المتفرد بالملك المتوحد بالألوهية المستحق للعبادة وحده، فكيف تعدلون عن عبادته إلى عبادة غيره مِن خلقه؟
