The Holy Quran 33:18 — Surah Al-Ahzab

Arabic text

۞ قَدْ يَعْلَمُ ٱللَّهُ ٱلْمُعَوِّقِينَ مِنكُمْ وَٱلْقَآئِلِينَ لِإِخْوَٰنِهِمْ هَلُمَّ إِلَيْنَا ۖ وَلَا يَأْتُونَ ٱلْبَأْسَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

Translation

Allaah has perfect knowledge of those of you (the Munaafiqeen) who present obstacles (in the path of those who intend serving the Deen) and those who say to their brothers, "Come (away from the battlefield) to (join) us (who are relaxing at home)." It is seldom that they participate (engage) in battle (because of their cowardice and lack of Imaan).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إن الله يعلم المثبطين عن الجهاد في سبيل الله، والقائلين لإخوانهم: تعالوا وانضموا إلينا، واتركوا محمدًا، فلا تشهدوا معه قتالا؛ فإنا نخاف عليكم الهلاك بهلاكه، وهم مع تخذيلهم هذا لا يأتون القتال إلا نادرًا؛ رياء وسمعة وخوف الفضيحة.
