The Holy Quran 33:17 — Surah Al-Ahzab

Arabic text

قُلْ مَن ذَا ٱلَّذِى يَعْصِمُكُم مِّنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ سُوٓءًا أَوْ أَرَادَ بِكُمْ رَحْمَةً ۚ وَلَا يَجِدُونَ لَهُم مِّن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ وَلِيًّا وَلَا نَصِيرًا

Translation

Say, "Who can defend you against Allaah if He intends evil or good for you? Besides Allaah, they (the Kuffaar and Munaafiqeen) will not find any protecting friend, nor any helper (to assist them against His punishment)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قل -أيها النبي- لهم: مَن ذا الذي يمنعكم من الله، أو يجيركم مِن عذابه، إن أراد بكم سوءًا، أو أراد بكم رحمة، فإنه المعطي المانع الضارُّ النافع؟ ولا يجد هؤلاء المنافقون لهم من دون الله وليًّا يواليهم، ولا نصيرًا ينصرهم.
