The Holy Quran 2:28 — Surah Al-Baqarah

Arabic text

كَيْفَ تَكْفُرُونَ بِٱللَّهِ وَكُنتُمْ أَمْوَٰتًا فَأَحْيَـٰكُمْ ۖ ثُمَّ يُمِيتُكُمْ ثُمَّ يُحْيِيكُمْ ثُمَّ إِلَيْهِ تُرْجَعُونَ

Translation

How can you disbelieve in (deny) Allaah when you were once lifeless (non-existent) and it was He Who granted you life (brought you into existence)? Thereafter He will cause you to die and give you life (once again on the Day of Qiyaamah) and then you will return to Him (for accountability).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

كيف تنكرون -أيُّها المشركون- وحدانية الله تعالى، وتشركون به غيره في العبادة مع البرهان القاطع عليها في أنفسكم؟ فلقد كنتم أمواتًا فأوجدكم ونفخ فيكم الحياة، ثم يميتكم بعد انقضاء آجالكم التي حددها لكم، ثم يعيدكم أحياء يوم البعث، ثم إليه ترجعون للحساب والجزاء.
