The Holy Quran 2:265 — Surah Al-Baqarah

Arabic text

وَمَثَلُ ٱلَّذِينَ يُنفِقُونَ أَمْوَٰلَهُمُ ٱبْتِغَآءَ مَرْضَاتِ ٱللَّهِ وَتَثْبِيتًا مِّنْ أَنفُسِهِمْ كَمَثَلِ جَنَّةٍۭ بِرَبْوَةٍ أَصَابَهَا وَابِلٌ فَـَٔاتَتْ أُكُلَهَا ضِعْفَيْنِ فَإِن لَّمْ يُصِبْهَا وَابِلٌ فَطَلٌّ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ بِمَا تَعْمَلُونَ بَصِيرٌ

Translation

The likeness of those who spend their wealth in search of Allaah's pleasure and (who spend) because of the firmness of their souls (the conviction in their hearts that Allaah will reward them) is like a (fertile) garden on a hill. A rainstorm strikes it, causing it to bring forth double its fruit. Even if a rainstorm does not come, then even a light drizzle (would suffice to cause its fruit to grow). Allaah sees all that you do. (Therefore, the person who spends in charity for Allaah's pleasure will earn tremendous rewards regardless of whether he spends a large amount or a small amount.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ومثل الذين ينفقون أموالهم طلبًا لرضا الله واعتقادًا راسخًا بصدق وعده، كمثل بستان عظيم بأرض عالية طيبة هطلت عليه أمطار غزيرة، فتضاعفت ثمراته، وإن لم تسقط عليه الأمطار الغزيرة فيكفيه رذاذ المطر ليعطي الثمرة المضاعفة، وكذلك نفقات المخلصين تُقبل عند الله وتُضاعف، قلَّت أم كثُرت، فالله المُطَّلِع على السرائر، البصير بالظواهر والبواطن، يثيب كلا بحسب إخلاصه.
