The Holy Quran 29:67 — Surah Al-'Ankabut

Arabic text

أَوَلَمْ يَرَوْا۟ أَنَّا جَعَلْنَا حَرَمًا ءَامِنًا وَيُتَخَطَّفُ ٱلنَّاسُ مِنْ حَوْلِهِمْ ۚ أَفَبِٱلْبَـٰطِلِ يُؤْمِنُونَ وَبِنِعْمَةِ ٱللَّهِ يَكْفُرُونَ

Translation

Do they (the Mushrikeen of Makkah) not see that We have (favoured them because We) made the Haram a place of safety (a place in which the Arabs regarded killing to be forbidden for any reason whatsoever), whereas people are being ravaged (attacked) around them (in this manner, the people of Makkah were always safe from attack)? Do they believe in falsehood (their idols) and (thereby) show ingratitude (disbelief) for Allaah's bounties (to them)? (Instead of worshipping Allaah Who secured this safety for them, they worship their idols instead.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

أو لم يشاهد كفار «مكة» أن الله جعل «مكة» لهم حَرَمًا آمنًا يأمن فيه أهله على أنفسهم وأموالهم، والناسُ مِن حولهم خارج الحرم، يُتَخَطَّفون غير آمنين؟ أفبالشرك يؤمنون، وبنعمة الله التي خصَّهم بها يكفرون، فلا يعبدونه وحده دون سواه؟
