The Holy Quran 29:53 — Surah Al-'Ankabut

Arabic text

وَيَسْتَعْجِلُونَكَ بِٱلْعَذَابِ ۚ وَلَوْلَآ أَجَلٌ مُّسَمًّى لَّجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ وَلَيَأْتِيَنَّهُم بَغْتَةً وَهُمْ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Translation

(O Rasulullaah ﷺ! By the Kuffaar constantly asking when punishment will overtake them, it seems as if) They seek to rush you with punishment. If it were not for a prescribed term (after which punishment will come to them), the punishment would have certainly come to them (already because they deserve it). It (the punishment) will definitely come to them suddenly when they do not perceive it (taking them totally by surprise).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ويستعجلك -أيها الرسول- هؤلاء المشركون من قومك بالعذاب استهزاء، ولولا أن الله جعل لعذابهم في الدنيا وقتًا لا يتقدم ولا يتأخر، لجاءهم العذاب حين طلبوه، وليأتينهم فجأة، وهم لا يشعرون به ولا يُحِسُّون.
