The Holy Quran 29:45 — Surah Al-'Ankabut

Arabic text

ٱتْلُ مَآ أُوحِىَ إِلَيْكَ مِنَ ٱلْكِتَـٰبِ وَأَقِمِ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ ۖ إِنَّ ٱلصَّلَوٰةَ تَنْهَىٰ عَنِ ٱلْفَحْشَآءِ وَٱلْمُنكَرِ ۗ وَلَذِكْرُ ٱللَّهِ أَكْبَرُ ۗ وَٱللَّهُ يَعْلَمُ مَا تَصْنَعُونَ

Translation

Recite the Book (the Qur'aan) which has been revealed to you and establish salaah. Verily salaah (performed with all its conditions and etiquette) prevents (the person performing the salaah from) immoral (indecent) behaviour and evil. Without doubt, the Dhikr of Allaah is greatest (greater than other forms of worship that are devoid of Allaah's remembrance). Allaah knows (the details of) what you do (and will reward you for every action carried out sincerely).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

اتل ما أُنزل إليك من هذا القرآن، واعمل به، وأدِّ الصلاة بحدودها، إن المحافظة على الصلاة تنهى صاحبها عن الوقوع في المعاصي والمنكرات; وذلك لأن المقيم لها، المتمم لأركانها وشروطها، يستنير قلبه، ويزداد إيمانه، وتقوى رغبته في الخير، وتقل أو تنعدم رغبته في الشر، ولَذكر الله في الصلاة وغيرها أعظم وأكبر وأفضل من كل شيء.
