The Holy Quran 28:7 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ أُمِّ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَرْضِعِيهِ ۖ فَإِذَا خِفْتِ عَلَيْهِ فَأَلْقِيهِ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ وَلَا تَخَافِى وَلَا تَحْزَنِىٓ ۖ إِنَّا رَآدُّوهُ إِلَيْكِ وَجَاعِلُوهُ مِنَ ٱلْمُرْسَلِينَ

Translation

(After Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام was born and his mother feared that Fir'oun's men would kill him,) We inspired Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام's mother (instructing her), “(Continue to) Nurse him. (However,) When you fear for his life, then place him in (a basket, which should be put into) the river (Nile) and neither fear (for his safety because We shall protect him) nor grieve (over your separation from him because it will not be for a long while). We shall certainly return him to you (to suckle) and have made him from among the Ambiyaa." (After placing the baby Moosa in the Nile, the basket floated past the palace of Fir'oun, whose wife had it removed from the water. She then decided to adopt the child as her own, as mentioned in the coming verses.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وألْهمنا أم موسى حين ولدته وخشيت عليه أن يذبحه فرعون كما يذبح أبناء بني إسرائيل: أن أرضعيه مطمئنة، فإذا خشيت أن يُعرف أمره فضعيه في صندوق وألقيه في النيل، دون خوف من فرعون وقومه أن يقتلوه، ودون حزن على فراقه، إنا رادُّو ولدك إليك وباعثوه رسولا.
