The Holy Quran 28:47 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

وَلَوْلَآ أَن تُصِيبَهُم مُّصِيبَةٌۢ بِمَا قَدَّمَتْ أَيْدِيهِمْ فَيَقُولُوا۟ رَبَّنَا لَوْلَآ أَرْسَلْتَ إِلَيْنَا رَسُولًا فَنَتَّبِعَ ءَايَـٰتِكَ وَنَكُونَ مِنَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ

Translation

(We would not have sent Ambiyaa عليهم الصلاة والسلام) If it were not for the fact that a calamity (punishment) would afflict them (people) on account of what (evil actions) their hands send ahead (to the Aakhirah), causing them to say, "O our Rabb! Why did You not send a Rasool to us so that we could follow (believe in and obey) Your Aayaat and become of the Mu'mineen?"

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولولا أن ينزل بهؤلاء الكفار عذاب بسبب كفرهم بربهم، فيقولوا: ربنا هلا أرسلت إلينا رسولا من قبل، فنتبع آياتك المنزلة في كتابك، ونكون من المؤمنين بك.
