The Holy Quran 28:45 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

وَلَـٰكِنَّآ أَنشَأْنَا قُرُونًا فَتَطَاوَلَ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلْعُمُرُ ۚ وَمَا كُنتَ ثَاوِيًا فِىٓ أَهْلِ مَدْيَنَ تَتْلُوا۟ عَلَيْهِمْ ءَايَـٰتِنَا وَلَـٰكِنَّا كُنَّا مُرْسِلِينَ

Translation

Nevertheless, We created (raised) many generations (after Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام, but their ages dragged on for very long (causing them to become negligent and forget their responsibilities to Allaah). You (O Rasulullaah ﷺ) were not even a resident from the people of Madyan reciting Our Aayaat to them (you are therefore unable to possess such detailed knowledge of what happened there without receiving the information from Allaah). It is only We Who (select and) send Ambiyaa (to their nations. We have therefore selected you, O Rasulullaah ﷺ, and there is none who can object to or reverse Our decision).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولكنا خلقنا أممًا من بعد موسى، فمكثوا زمنًا طويلا فنسوا عهد الله، وتركوا أمره، وما كنت مقيمًا في أهل «مدين» تقرأ عليهم كتابنا، فتعرف قصتهم وتخبر بها، ولكن ذلك الخبر الذي جئت به عن موسى وحي، وشاهد على رسالتك.
