The Holy Quran 28:16 — Surah Al-Qasas

Arabic text

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّى ظَلَمْتُ نَفْسِى فَٱغْفِرْ لِى فَغَفَرَ لَهُۥٓ ۚ إِنَّهُۥ هُوَ ٱلْغَفُورُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ

Translation

Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام said, "O my Rabb! I have oppressed (wronged) myself, so forgive me (for my mistake)." So Allaah forgave him. Without doubt, He is the Most Forgiving, the Most Merciful. (The Ambiyaa considered even their mistakes to be equal to sins.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قال موسى: رب إني ظلمت نفسي بقتل النفس التي لم تأمرني بقتلها فاغفر لي ذلك الذنب، فغفر الله له. إن الله غفور لذنوب عباده، رحيم بهم.
