The Holy Quran 27:48 — Surah An-Naml

Arabic text

وَكَانَ فِى ٱلْمَدِينَةِ تِسْعَةُ رَهْطٍ يُفْسِدُونَ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ وَلَا يُصْلِحُونَ

Translation

There were nine persons in the town (as in Makkah much later) who spread (much) corruption (trouble, evil, robbery) in the land and never made amends (for their wrongs).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وكان في مدينة صالح -وهي «الحِجْر» الواقعة في شمال غرب جزيرة العرب- تسعة رجال، شأنهم الإفساد في الأرض، الذي لا يخالطه شيء من الصلاح.
