The Holy Quran 21:6 — Surah Al-Anbya

Arabic text

مَآ ءَامَنَتْ قَبْلَهُم مِّن قَرْيَةٍ أَهْلَكْنَـٰهَآ ۖ أَفَهُمْ يُؤْمِنُونَ

Translation

None of the towns that We destroyed before them had Imaan (despite seeing the miracle). Will these people now have Imaan (when they see the same miracles) ? (Just as previous nations were destroyed when they refused to believe in the miracles they requested, all Mushrikeen also stand to suffer the same fate).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ما آمنت قبل كفار «مكة» من قرية طلب أهلها المعجزات مِن رسولهم وتحققت، بل كذَّبوا، فأهلكناهم، أفيؤمن كفار «مكة» إذا تحققت المعجزات التي طلبوها؟ كلا إنهم لا يؤمنون.
