The Holy Quran 20:83 — Surah Taha

Arabic text

۞ وَمَآ أَعْجَلَكَ عَن قَوْمِكَ يَـٰمُوسَىٰ

Translation

(In his eagerness to receive the Torah from Allaah at Mount Toor, Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام hurried ahead of some people who were supposed to accompany him there, causing them to remain behind with the rest of the people who eventually were involved in worshipping the calf. It was with reference to this that Allaah asked him,) "What has made you hasten ahead of your people, O Moosa?"

وأيُّ شيء أعجلك عن قومك - يا موسى - فسبقتَهم إلى جانب الطور الأيمن، وخلَّفتَهم وراءك؟
