The Holy Quran 17:62 — Surah Al-Isra

Arabic text

قَالَ أَرَءَيْتَكَ هَـٰذَا ٱلَّذِى كَرَّمْتَ عَلَىَّ لَئِنْ أَخَّرْتَنِ إِلَىٰ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ لَأَحْتَنِكَنَّ ذُرِّيَّتَهُۥٓ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

Translation

He (Iblees) said, "Are You telling me that this is the being whom You have (most)honoured above me (I cannot accept this) ? If You grant me (a little) respite (time to live) until the Day of Qiyaamah, I will surely gain control of his (Aadam عليه الصلاة والسلام's) progeny (and lead them astray) except for a few individuals (Whom You protect from me)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وقال إبليس جراءة على الله وكفرًا به: أرأيت هذا المخلوق الذي ميزته عليَّ؟ لئن أبقيتني حيًا إلى يوم القيامة لأستولينَّ على ذريته بالإغواء والإفساد، إلا المخلصين منهم في الإيمان، وهم قليل.
