The Holy Quran 16:56 — Surah An-Nahl

Arabic text

وَيَجْعَلُونَ لِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُونَ نَصِيبًا مِّمَّا رَزَقْنَـٰهُمْ ۗ تَٱللَّهِ لَتُسْـَٔلُنَّ عَمَّا كُنتُمْ تَفْتَرُونَ

Translation

And they (the Mushrikeen) set aside a portion of what (food) We provide for them to those (gods) who (whose divinity) they do not know. (As mentioned in verse 136 of Surah 6, where Allaah says, "A portion of their crops and animals that Allaah created, they set aside for Allaah saying, "This is for Allaah," according to their estimation, “and this is for our partners.") By Allaah! You (O Mushrikeen) shall certainly be questioned (on the Day of Qiyaamah) about what (lies and practices) you fabricate.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ومِن قبيح أعمالهم أنهم يجعلون للأصنام التي اتخذوها آلهة، -وهي لا تعلم شيئًا ولا تنفع ولا تضر- جزءًا من أموالهم التي رزقهم الله بها تقربًا إليها. تالله لتسألُنَّ يوم القيامة عما كنتم تختلقونه من الكذب على الله.
