The Holy Quran 16:26 — Surah An-Nahl

Arabic text

قَدْ مَكَرَ ٱلَّذِينَ مِن قَبْلِهِمْ فَأَتَى ٱللَّهُ بُنْيَـٰنَهُم مِّنَ ٱلْقَوَاعِدِ فَخَرَّ عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلسَّقْفُ مِن فَوْقِهِمْ وَأَتَىٰهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابُ مِنْ حَيْثُ لَا يَشْعُرُونَ

Translation

Those (Kuffaar) before them certainly plotted (against the Ambiyaa عليه الصلاة والسلام) but Allaah demolished their building (the structure of their plots) from the foundation, causing the roof to (completely) cave in on them from above (Allaah made their plots unsuccessful). And (in addition to this,) punishment came to them from where they did not perceive (it struck them completely unawares).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قد دبَّر الكفار من قَبْل هؤلاء المشركين المكايد لرسلهم، وما جاءوا به من دعوة الحق، فأتى الله بنيانهم من أساسه وقاعدته، فسقط عليهم السقف مِن فوقهم، وأتاهم الهلاك مِن مأمنهم، من حيث لا يحتسبون ولا يتوقعون أنه يأتيهم منه.
