The Holy Quran 16:24 — Surah An-Nahl

Arabic text

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُم مَّاذَآ أَنزَلَ رَبُّكُمْ ۙ قَالُوٓا۟ أَسَـٰطِيرُ ٱلْأَوَّلِينَ

Translation

When they (the Mushrikeen) are asked (by people wanting to know about Islaam), "What has your Rabb revealed (to Muhammad ﷺ)?" they reply, "Tales of the ancient people." (Although the Mushrikeen of Makkah knew that the Qur'aan must be from Allaah, they made statements like this to discourage others from drawing close to Islaam.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وإذا سُئِل هؤلاء المشركون عمَّا نزل على النبي محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم قالوا كذبًا وزورًا: ما أتى إلا بقصص السابقين وأباطيلهم.
