The Holy Quran 13:16 — Surah Ar-Ra'd

Arabic text

قُلْ مَن رَّبُّ ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَٱلْأَرْضِ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ ۚ قُلْ أَفَٱتَّخَذْتُم مِّن دُونِهِۦٓ أَوْلِيَآءَ لَا يَمْلِكُونَ لِأَنفُسِهِمْ نَفْعًا وَلَا ضَرًّا ۚ قُلْ هَلْ يَسْتَوِى ٱلْأَعْمَىٰ وَٱلْبَصِيرُ أَمْ هَلْ تَسْتَوِى ٱلظُّلُمَـٰتُ وَٱلنُّورُ ۗ أَمْ جَعَلُوا۟ لِلَّهِ شُرَكَآءَ خَلَقُوا۟ كَخَلْقِهِۦ فَتَشَـٰبَهَ ٱلْخَلْقُ عَلَيْهِمْ ۚ قُلِ ٱللَّهُ خَـٰلِقُ كُلِّ شَىْءٍ وَهُوَ ٱلْوَٰحِدُ ٱلْقَهَّـٰرُ

Translation

Say, "Who is the Rabb of the heavens and the earth?" Say, "Allaah!" Say, "(After admitting this,) Do you still take helpers (gods) besides Allaah who have no ability to help, nor to harm themselves." Say, "Is he who sees equal to the blind? (The Kaafir and Muslim cannot be the same) Or is a multitudes of darkness (kufr) equal to light (Imaan)? Or do they (the Mushrikeen) ascribe such partners to Allaah who create like He creates, thereby causing the creation to be alike to them?" Say, "Allaah is the Creator of everything and He is the One, The Omnipotent." (None can create like Allaah creates. There can therefore be no confusion about who Allaah is because the other gods cannot equal Him at all.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قل -أيها الرسول- للمشركين: مَن خالق السَّموات والأرض ومدبِّرهما؟ قل: الله هو الخالق المدبر لهما، وأنتم تقرون بذلك، ثم قل لهم ملزمًا بالحجة: أجعلتم غيره معبودين لكم، وهم لا يَقْدرون على نفع أنفسهم أو ضرها فضلا عن نفعكم أو ضركم، وتركتم عبادة مالكها؟ قل لهم -أيها الرسول-: هل يستوي عندكم الكافر -وهو كالأعمى- والمؤمن وهو كالبصير؟
