The Holy Quran 12:8 — Surah Yusuf

Arabic text

إِذْ قَالُوا۟ لَيُوسُفُ وَأَخُوهُ أَحَبُّ إِلَىٰٓ أَبِينَا مِنَّا وَنَحْنُ عُصْبَةٌ إِنَّ أَبَانَا لَفِى ضَلَـٰلٍ مُّبِينٍ

Translation

(We now draw your attention to the time) When the (step-) brothers (of Yusuf عليه الصلاة والسلام) said (to each other), "Verily Yusuf and his (real) brother (Bin Yaameen) are more beloved to our father than us, even though we are a large (strong) group. Indeed our father is certainly mistaken (because we are more useful to him)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إذ قال إخوة يوسف من أبيه فيما بينهم: إن يوسف وأخاه الشقيق أحب إلى أبينا منا، يفضِّلهما علينا، ونحن جماعة ذوو عدد، إن أبانا لفي خطأ بيِّن حيث فضَّلهما علينا من غير موجب نراه.
