The Holy Quran 11:84 — Surah Hud

Arabic text

۞ وَإِلَىٰ مَدْيَنَ أَخَاهُمْ شُعَيْبًا ۚ قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ ٱعْبُدُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ مَا لَكُم مِّنْ إِلَـٰهٍ غَيْرُهُۥ ۖ وَلَا تَنقُصُوا۟ ٱلْمِكْيَالَ وَٱلْمِيزَانَ ۚ إِنِّىٓ أَرَىٰكُم بِخَيْرٍ وَإِنِّىٓ أَخَافُ عَلَيْكُمْ عَذَابَ يَوْمٍ مُّحِيطٍ

Translation

To (the people living in the town of) Madyan We sent their brother Shu'ayb عليه الصلاة والسلام (as a Nabi). He said, "O my people! Worship (Only) Allaah. There is no Ilaah for you besides Him. Do not reduce (articles) in weight and measure (do not underweigh and undermeasure when trading). Indeed I see you in fortunate (prosperous) circumstances but (if you continue doing wrong) I fear for you the punishment of a day that will surround all (when everyone will be destroyed)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وأرسلنا إلى «مدين» أخاهم شعيبًا، فقال: يا قوم اعبدوا الله وحده، ليس لكم مِن إله يستحق العبادة غيره جل وعلا، فأخلصوا له العبادة، ولا تنقصوا الناس حقوقهم في مكاييلهم وموازينهم، إني أراكم في سَ��َة عيش، وإني أخاف عليكم -بسبب إنقاص المكيال والميزان- عذاب يوم يحيط بكم.
