The Holy Quran 11:77 — Surah Hud

Arabic text

وَلَمَّا جَآءَتْ رُسُلُنَا لُوطًا سِىٓءَ بِهِمْ وَضَاقَ بِهِمْ ذَرْعًا وَقَالَ هَـٰذَا يَوْمٌ عَصِيبٌ

Translation

When Our messenger angels came to Loot عليه الصلاة والسلام he became distressed because of their presence and his heart tightened (because the angels appeared as handsome young men, Loot عليه الصلاة والسلام feared that his people would want to commit sodomy with them). He said, "This is a day of misfortune."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولما جاءت ملائكتنا لوطًا ساءه مجيئهم واغتمَّ لذلك; وذلك لأنه لم يكن يعلم أنهم رسل الله، فخاف عليهم من قومه، وقال: هذا يوم بلاء وشدة.
