The Holy Quran 11:63 — Surah Hud

Arabic text

قَالَ يَـٰقَوْمِ أَرَءَيْتُمْ إِن كُنتُ عَلَىٰ بَيِّنَةٍ مِّن رَّبِّى وَءَاتَىٰنِى مِنْهُ رَحْمَةً فَمَن يَنصُرُنِى مِنَ ٱللَّهِ إِنْ عَصَيْتُهُۥ ۖ فَمَا تَزِيدُونَنِى غَيْرَ تَخْسِيرٍ

Translation

He said, "O my people! Tell me. If I am upon a clear proof from my Rabb (which proves that I am a Nabi) and He has granted me a mercy (Prophethood) from Himself, who will assist me against (the punishment of) Allaah if I disobey Him (by doing what pleases you and not conveying the message of Towheed that He has commanded me to convey)? (By discouraging me from doing what I have been commanded to do and asking me to follow you) You only increase me in loss (increase my misfortune because this will attract Allaah's punishment)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قال صالح لقومه: يا قوم أخبروني إن كنت على برهان من الله وآتاني منه النبوة والحكمة، فمن الذي يدفع عني عقاب الله تعالى إن عصيته فلم أبلِّغ الرسالة وأنصحْ لكم؟ فما تزيدونني غير تضليل وإبعاد عن الخير.
