The Holy Quran 11:47 — Surah Hud

Arabic text

قَالَ رَبِّ إِنِّىٓ أَعُوذُ بِكَ أَنْ أَسْـَٔلَكَ مَا لَيْسَ لِى بِهِۦ عِلْمٌ ۖ وَإِلَّا تَغْفِرْ لِى وَتَرْحَمْنِىٓ أَكُن مِّنَ ٱلْخَـٰسِرِينَ

Translation

(Realising that he was wrong to ask about his son) Nooh عليه الصلاة والسلام said, "O my Rabb! I seek Your protection from asking You about things of which I have no knowledge. If You do not forgive me and have mercy on me, I will be of the losers."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

قال نوح: يا رب إني أعتصم وأستجير بك أن أسألك ما ليس لي به علم، وإن لم تغفر لي ذنبي، وترحمني برحمتك، أكن من الذين غَبَنوا أنفسهم حظوظها وهلكوا.
