The Holy Quran 10:22 — Surah Yunus

Arabic text

هُوَ ٱلَّذِى يُسَيِّرُكُمْ فِى ٱلْبَرِّ وَٱلْبَحْرِ ۖ حَتَّىٰٓ إِذَا كُنتُمْ فِى ٱلْفُلْكِ وَجَرَيْنَ بِهِم بِرِيحٍ طَيِّبَةٍ وَفَرِحُوا۟ بِهَا جَآءَتْهَا رِيحٌ عَاصِفٌ وَجَآءَهُمُ ٱلْمَوْجُ مِن كُلِّ مَكَانٍ وَظَنُّوٓا۟ أَنَّهُمْ أُحِيطَ بِهِمْ ۙ دَعَوُا۟ ٱللَّهَ مُخْلِصِينَ لَهُ ٱلدِّينَ لَئِنْ أَنجَيْتَنَا مِنْ هَـٰذِهِۦ لَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلشَّـٰكِرِينَ

Translation

It is He Who allows you to travel (peacefully) on land and sea, until the time comes when you are in a ship and it sails with them (the people on board, propelled) by a pleasant wind. They are happy in it when a strong wind (suddenly) strikes them and the waves come to them from every side. They think that they are surrounded (will be drowned) and they pray to Allaah with sincere faith in Him. (They say in their prayer,) "(O Allaah!) If You rescue us from this, we will certainly be from among the grateful ones (the Mu'mineen)."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

هو الذي يسيِّركم -أيها الناس- في البر على الدواب وغيرها، وفي البحر في السُّفُن، حتى إذا كنتم فيها وجرت بريح طيبة، وفرح ركاب السفن بالريح الطيبة، جاءت هذه السفنَ ريحٌ شديدة، وجاء الركابَ الموجُ (وهو ما ارتفع من الماء)
