The Holy Quran 10:18 — Surah Yunus

Arabic text

وَيَعْبُدُونَ مِن دُونِ ٱللَّهِ مَا لَا يَضُرُّهُمْ وَلَا يَنفَعُهُمْ وَيَقُولُونَ هَـٰٓؤُلَآءِ شُفَعَـٰٓؤُنَا عِندَ ٱللَّهِ ۚ قُلْ أَتُنَبِّـُٔونَ ٱللَّهَ بِمَا لَا يَعْلَمُ فِى ٱلسَّمَـٰوَٰتِ وَلَا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ ۚ سُبْحَـٰنَهُۥ وَتَعَـٰلَىٰ عَمَّا يُشْرِكُونَ

Translation

They worship besides Allaah what (gods) does not harm them (if they do not worship them) nor benefits them (if they worship them), and they say, "These are our intercessors with Allaah." Say, "Are you informing Allaah of what He does not know in the heavens and in the earth (that He has partners He has no knowledge of)? He is Pure and High above what (partners) they ascribe to him."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ويعبد هؤلاء المشركون من دون الله ما لا يضرهم شيئًا، ولا ينفعهم في الدنيا والآخرة، ويقولون: إنما نعبدهم ليشفعوا لنا عند الله، قل لهم -أيها الرسول-: أتخبرون الله تعالى بشيء لا يعلمه مِن أمر هؤلاء الشفعاء في السموات أو في الأرض؟
