Explanation of worldly enmity

Question: What is meant by worldly enmity, because of which testimony is not accepted in the Sharia?

Answer

In al-Durr al-Mukhtar it is set out as follows: [ar]والعدو لا تقبل شهادته على عدوه إذا كانت دنيوية، وفي شرح الوهبانية للشرنبلالي: ثم إنما تثبت العداوة بنحو قذف وجرح وقتل ولي، لا بمخاصمة، نعم هي تمنع الشهادة فيما وقعت فيه المخاصمة كشهادة وكيل فيما وكل فيه ووصي وشريك[/ar] “The testimony of an enemy against his enemy is not accepted if (the enmity) is worldly.
