Surah Al-Fatihah (الفاتحة)

- 1:1
بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
In the name of Allaah, the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful.
- 1:2
ٱلْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ رَبِّ ٱلْعَـٰلَمِينَ
All praise belongs to Allaah, the Rabb (the Cherisher, the Creator, the Sustainer) of the universe (and whatever it contains)...
- 1:3
ٱلرَّحْمَـٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
Who is the Most Compassionate, the Most Merciful...
- 1:4
مَـٰلِكِ يَوْمِ ٱلدِّينِ
...and Master of (all affairs on) the Day of Recompense (the Day of Qiyaamah, when resurrection, accountability, rewards and punishment will take place).
- 1:5
إِيَّاكَ نَعْبُدُ وَإِيَّاكَ نَسْتَعِينُ
You Alone do we worship, and You Alone do we ask for help.
- 1:6
ٱهْدِنَا ٱلصِّرَٰطَ ٱلْمُسْتَقِيمَ
Guide us to the straight path (the path of Islaam);
- 1:7
صِرَٰطَ ٱلَّذِينَ أَنْعَمْتَ عَلَيْهِمْ غَيْرِ ٱلْمَغْضُوبِ عَلَيْهِمْ وَلَا ٱلضَّآلِّينَ
the path of those whom You have favored (by guiding them aright)... ...and not the path of those with whom You are angry (the Jews), nor the path of those who have gone astray (the Christians).
