The Holy Quran 9:99 — Surah At-Tawbah

Arabic text

وَمِنَ ٱلْأَعْرَابِ مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِٱللَّهِ وَٱلْيَوْمِ ٱلْـَٔاخِرِ وَيَتَّخِذُ مَا يُنفِقُ قُرُبَـٰتٍ عِندَ ٱللَّهِ وَصَلَوَٰتِ ٱلرَّسُولِ ۚ أَلَآ إِنَّهَا قُرْبَةٌ لَّهُمْ ۚ سَيُدْخِلُهُمُ ٱللَّهُ فِى رَحْمَتِهِۦٓ ۗ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ غَفُورٌ رَّحِيمٌ

Translation

Among the villagers there are also those who believe in Allaah and the Last Day. They consider what they spend as a means of gaining nearness to Allaah and (a means being included in) the prayers (du'aa) of the Rasool. Behold! It (their spending for the pleasure of Allaah) will be a means of gaining nearness (and du'aa) for them. Allaah will soon enter them in His mercy. Undoubtedly Allaah is Most Forgiving, Most Merciful.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ومن الأعراب مَن يؤمن بالله ويقرُّ بوحدانيته وبالبعث بعد الموت، والثواب والعقاب، ويحتسب ما ينفق من نفقة في جهاد المشركين قاصدًا بها رضا الله ومحبته، ويجعلها وسيلة إلى دعاء الرسول صلى الله عليه وسلم له، ألا إن هذه الأعمال تقربهم إلى الله تعالى، سيدخلهم الله في جنته. إن الله غفور لما فعلوا من السيئات، رحيم بهم.
