The Holy Quran 9:75 — Surah At-Tawbah

Arabic text

۞ وَمِنْهُم مَّنْ عَـٰهَدَ ٱللَّهَ لَئِنْ ءَاتَىٰنَا مِن فَضْلِهِۦ لَنَصَّدَّقَنَّ وَلَنَكُونَنَّ مِنَ ٱلصَّـٰلِحِينَ

Translation

Among them (like Thaleba bin Hatib Ansari) are those who make the pledge with Allaah saying, "If He grants us (wealth) from His bounty, we will definitely give charity and we will certainly be of the pious ones."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ومن فقراء المنافقين مَن يقطع العهد على نفسه: لئن أعطاه الله المال ليصدَّقنَّ منه، وليعمَلنَّ ما يعمل الصالحون في أموالهم، وليسيرَنَّ في طريق الصلاح.
