The Holy Quran 7:74 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

وَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ إِذْ جَعَلَكُمْ خُلَفَآءَ مِنۢ بَعْدِ عَادٍ وَبَوَّأَكُمْ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ تَتَّخِذُونَ مِن سُهُولِهَا قُصُورًا وَتَنْحِتُونَ ٱلْجِبَالَ بُيُوتًا ۖ فَٱذْكُرُوٓا۟ ءَالَآءَ ٱللَّهِ وَلَا تَعْثَوْا۟ فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ مُفْسِدِينَ

Translation

Remember (the time) when Allaah made you successors after the Aad and stationed you (gave you a firm position) on earth. You build palaces on the gentle portions of it (such as plains and gentle slopes) and carve homes out of the mountains. Remember Allaah's bounties and do not spread corruption (kufr and Shirk) on earth."

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

واذكروا نعمة الله عليكم، إذ جعلكم تَخْلُفون في الأرض مَن قبلكم، من بعد قبيلة عاد، ومكَّن لكم في الأرض الطيبة تنزلونها، فتبنون في سهولها البيوت العظيمة، وتنحتون من جبالها بيوتًا أخرى، فاذكروا نِعَمَ الله عليكم، ولا تَسْعَوا في الأرض بالإفساد.
