The Holy Quran 7:165 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

فَلَمَّا نَسُوا۟ مَا ذُكِّرُوا۟ بِهِۦٓ أَنجَيْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ يَنْهَوْنَ عَنِ ٱلسُّوٓءِ وَأَخَذْنَا ٱلَّذِينَ ظَلَمُوا۟ بِعَذَابٍۭ بَـِٔيسٍۭ بِمَا كَانُوا۟ يَفْسُقُونَ

Translation

When they (the first group) forgot (ignored) the advice given to them (by the second group), We saved those who used to forbid evil (the second group) and We seized those who did wrong (the first group) with a terrible punishment because of their disobedience. (Because they disliked violating Allaah's command, the third group were also saved from punishment.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فلما تركت الطائفة التي اعتدت في يوم السبت ما ذُكِّرت به، واستمرت على غيِّها واعتدائها فيه، ولم تستجب لما وَعَظَتْها به الطائفة الواعظة، أنجى الله الذين ينهون عن معصيته، وأخذ الذين اعتدَوْا في يوم السبت بعذاب أليم شديد; بسبب مخالفتهم أمر الله وخروجهم عن طاعته.
