The Holy Quran 7:136 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

فَٱنتَقَمْنَا مِنْهُمْ فَأَغْرَقْنَـٰهُمْ فِى ٱلْيَمِّ بِأَنَّهُمْ كَذَّبُوا۟ بِـَٔايَـٰتِنَا وَكَانُوا۟ عَنْهَا غَـٰفِلِينَ

Translation

So We took revenge on them (punished them) and drowned them in the (Red) sea because they rejected Our Aayaat and were negligent (the first son of every person was killed. whilst they were busy with the funeral, Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام took the Bani Israa'eel out).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فانتقمنا منهم حين جاء الأجل المحدد لإهلاكهم، وذلك بإحلال نقمتنا عليهم، وهي إغراقهم في البحر; بسبب تكذيبهم بالمعجزات التي ظهرت على يد موسى، وكانوا عن هذه المعجزات غافلين، وتلك الغفلة هي سبب الت��ذيب.
