The Holy Quran 7:130 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

وَلَقَدْ أَخَذْنَآ ءَالَ فِرْعَوْنَ بِٱلسِّنِينَ وَنَقْصٍ مِّنَ ٱلثَّمَرَٰتِ لَعَلَّهُمْ يَذَّكَّرُونَ

Translation

Without doubt We afflicted (punished) the people of Fir'oun with droughts (the third miracle) and shortages in their produce (the fourth miracle) so that they take heed (so that they realise that they are suffering because of their kufr and therefore accept Imaan).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولقد ابتلينا فرعون وقومه بالقحط والجدب، ونَقْص ثمارهم وغَلاتهم; ليتذكروا، وينزجروا عن ضلالاتهم، ويفزعوا إلى ربهم بالتوبة.
