The Holy Quran 7:117 — Surah Al-A'raf

Arabic text

۞ وَأَوْحَيْنَآ إِلَىٰ مُوسَىٰٓ أَنْ أَلْقِ عَصَاكَ ۖ فَإِذَا هِىَ تَلْقَفُ مَا يَأْفِكُونَ

Translation

We inspired (strengthened) Moosa عليه الصلاة والسلام saying, "(Now) Throw your staff!" Then suddenly it (the snake which was once the staff) began to swallow their deceiving (unreal, imaginary) things (the "snakes" that the magicians made people imagine that they were there).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

وأوحى الله إلى عبده ورسوله موسى عليه السلام في ذلك الموقف العظيم الذي فرَّق الله فيه بين الحق والباطل، يأمره بأن يُلقي ما في يمينه وهي عصاه، فألقاها فإذا هي تبلع ما يلقونه، ويوهمون الناس أنه حق وهو باطل.
