The Holy Quran 5:87 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تُحَرِّمُوا۟ طَيِّبَـٰتِ مَآ أَحَلَّ ٱللَّهُ لَكُمْ وَلَا تَعْتَدُوٓا۟ ۚ إِنَّ ٱللَّهَ لَا يُحِبُّ ٱلْمُعْتَدِينَ

Translation

O you who have Imaan! Do not forbid (declare as unlawful) the pure things that Allaah has permitted (made lawful) for you (by regarding something Halaal as Haraam) and do not overstep (do not exceed the limits of the Shari'ah). Surely Allaah does not like those who overstep (exceed limits).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يا أيها الذين آمنوا لا تحرِّموا طيبات أحلَّها الله لكم من المطاعم والمشارب ونكاح النساء، فتضيقوا ما وسَّع الله عليكم، ولا تتجاوزوا حدود ما حرَّم الله. إن الله لا يحب المعتدين.
