The Holy Quran 5:82 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

۞ لَتَجِدَنَّ أَشَدَّ ٱلنَّاسِ عَدَٰوَةً لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلْيَهُودَ وَٱلَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُوا۟ ۖ وَلَتَجِدَنَّ أَقْرَبَهُم مَّوَدَّةً لِّلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ قَالُوٓا۟ إِنَّا نَصَـٰرَىٰ ۚ ذَٰلِكَ بِأَنَّ مِنْهُمْ قِسِّيسِينَ وَرُهْبَانًا وَأَنَّهُمْ لَا يَسْتَكْبِرُونَ

Translation

You will definitely discover that the Jews and Mushrikeen are the staunchest (most bitter) enemies of the Mu'mineen. And you will surely find that those closest in affection to the Mu'mineen are those who say, "We are Christians (Christians who follow the true teachings of Isa عليه الصلاة والسلام)." This (affection) is because there are learned priests (scholars) and monks among them and because they are not proud.

لتجدنَّ -أيها الرسول- أشدَّ الناس عداوة للذين صدَّقوك وآمنوا بك واتبعوك، اليهودَ; لعنادهم، وجحودهم، وغمطهم الحق، والذين أشركوا مع الله غيره، كعبدة الأوثان وغيرهم، ولتجدنَّ أقربهم مودة للمسلمين الذين قالوا: إنا نصارى، ذلك بأن منهم علماء بدينهم متزهدين وعبَّادًا في الصوامع متنسكين، وأنهم متواضعون لا يستكبرون عن قَبول الحق، وهؤلاء هم الذين قبلوا رسالة محمد صلى…
