The Holy Quran 5:57 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ لَا تَتَّخِذُوا۟ ٱلَّذِينَ ٱتَّخَذُوا۟ دِينَكُمْ هُزُوًا وَلَعِبًا مِّنَ ٱلَّذِينَ أُوتُوا۟ ٱلْكِتَـٰبَ مِن قَبْلِكُمْ وَٱلْكُفَّارَ أَوْلِيَآءَ ۚ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ إِن كُنتُم مُّؤْمِنِينَ

Translation

O you who have Imaan! Do not take as friends those who make a mockery (joke and ridicule) and fun (play) of your Deen (whether they be) from those who have received the Book before you (the Jews and Christians) and (whether they be from) the (other) Kuffaar (groups). Fear (the punishment of) Allaah if you are (true) Mu'mineen.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يا أيها الذين صدَّقوا الله ورسوله وعملوا بشرعه، لا تتخذوا الذين يستهزئون ويتلاعبون بدينكم من أهل الكتاب والكفارَ أولياءَ، وخافوا الله إن كنتم مؤمنين به وبشرعه.
