The Holy Quran 5:36 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

إِنَّ ٱلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا۟ لَوْ أَنَّ لَهُم مَّا فِى ٱلْأَرْضِ جَمِيعًا وَمِثْلَهُۥ مَعَهُۥ لِيَفْتَدُوا۟ بِهِۦ مِنْ عَذَابِ يَوْمِ ٱلْقِيَـٰمَةِ مَا تُقُبِّلَ مِنْهُمْ ۖ وَلَهُمْ عَذَابٌ أَلِيمٌ

Translation

Without doubt (even) if the Kuffaar possessed all (the wealth) within the earth and as much more in addition to ransom themselves from the punishment of the Day of Qiyaamah, it will not be accepted from them. They shall have (to suffer) a painful punishment (salvation is not gained by wealth used in bribery and corruption).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

إن الذين جحدوا وحدانية الله، وشريعته، لو أنهم سلكوا جميع ما في الأرض، وملكوا مثله معه، وأرادوا أن يفتدوا أنفسهم يوم القيامة من عذاب الله بما ملكوا، ما تَقبَّل الله ذلك منهم، ولهم عذاب مُوجع.
