The Holy Quran 5:11 — Surah Al-Ma'idah

Arabic text

يَـٰٓأَيُّهَا ٱلَّذِينَ ءَامَنُوا۟ ٱذْكُرُوا۟ نِعْمَتَ ٱللَّهِ عَلَيْكُمْ إِذْ هَمَّ قَوْمٌ أَن يَبْسُطُوٓا۟ إِلَيْكُمْ أَيْدِيَهُمْ فَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَهُمْ عَنكُمْ ۖ وَٱتَّقُوا۟ ٱللَّهَ ۚ وَعَلَى ٱللَّهِ فَلْيَتَوَكَّلِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنُونَ

Translation

O you who have Imaan! Remember the favour of Allaah to you when a nation (the Quraysh of Makkah and many other enemies) resolved to stretch their hands against (lay their hands on) you (to fight you) but He withheld their hands from you (so that they were unable to cause you any harm). Fear Allaah (ensuring that your external and internal relationships with Allaah are flawless)! Only in Allaah should the Mu'mineen trust (Only to Him do they owe their loyalty).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

يا أيها الذين صدَّقوا الله ورسوله وعملوا بشرعه اذكروا ما أنعم الله به عليكم من نعمة الأمنِ، وإلقاءِ الرعب في قلوب أعدائكم الذين أرادوا أن يبطشوا بكم، فصرفهم الله عنكم، وحال بينهم وبين ما أرادوه بكم، واتقوا الله واحذروه، وتوكلوا على الله وحده في أموركم الدينية والدنيوية، وثِقوا بعونه ونصره.
