The Holy Quran 54:38 — Surah Al-Qamar

Arabic text

وَلَقَدْ صَبَّحَهُم بُكْرَةً عَذَابٌ مُّسْتَقِرٌّ

Translation

Without a doubt, during the early hours of the morning a punishment with long- lasting effects afflicted them. (Stones were rained on them and their cities were lifted to the sky and flung back upside down.)

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ولقد جاءهم وقت الصباح عذاب دائم استقر فيهم حتى يُفضي بهم إلى عذاب الآخرة، وذلك العذاب هو رجمهم بالحجارة وقلب قُراهم وجعل أعلاها أسفلها، فقيل لهم: ذوقوا عذابي الذي أنزلته بكم؛ لكفركم وتكذيبكم، وإنذاري الذي أنذركم به لوط عليه السلام.
