The Holy Quran 4:49 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

أَلَمْ تَرَ إِلَى ٱلَّذِينَ يُزَكُّونَ أَنفُسَهُم ۚ بَلِ ٱللَّهُ يُزَكِّى مَن يَشَآءُ وَلَا يُظْلَمُونَ فَتِيلًا

Translation

Have you not seen those who proclaim (consider) their purity (who praise their piety)? Allaah purifies whoever He wills and does not oppress even (to the extent of) the string of a date seed (the fine thread found in the slit of a date seed).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

ألم تعلم -أيها الرسول- أمر أولئك الذين يُثنون على أنفسهم وأعمالهم، ويصفونها بالطهر والبعد عن السوء؟ بل الله تعالى وحده هو الذي يثني على مَن يشاء مِن عباده، لعلمه بحقيقة أعمالهم، ولا يُنقَصون من أعمالهم شيئًا مقدار الخيط الذي يكون في شق نَواة التمرة.
