The Holy Quran 4:155 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

فَبِمَا نَقْضِهِم مِّيثَـٰقَهُمْ وَكُفْرِهِم بِـَٔايَـٰتِ ٱللَّهِ وَقَتْلِهِمُ ٱلْأَنۢبِيَآءَ بِغَيْرِ حَقٍّ وَقَوْلِهِمْ قُلُوبُنَا غُلْفٌۢ ۚ بَلْ طَبَعَ ٱللَّهُ عَلَيْهَا بِكُفْرِهِمْ فَلَا يُؤْمِنُونَ إِلَّا قَلِيلًا

Translation

(The Jews are cursed) Because they broke their pledge, disbelieved in Allaah's Aayaat, unlawfully killed the Ambiya and said, “Our hearts are covered (in a veil so we cannot understand what you say)." Not at all! Rather Allaah had placed a seal upon their hearts because of their (the Jews) kufr. As a result, there are very few of them (Jews) who have Imaan.

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

فلعنَّاهم بسبب نقضهم للعهود، وكفرهم بآيات الله الدالة على صدق رسله، وقتلهم للأنبياء ظلمًا واعتداءً، وقولهم: قلوبنا عليها أغطية فلا تفقه ما تقول، بل طمس الله عليها بسبب كفرهم، فلا يؤمنون إلا إيمانًا قليلا لا ينفعهم.
