The Holy Quran 4:139 — Surah An-Nisa

Arabic text

ٱلَّذِينَ يَتَّخِذُونَ ٱلْكَـٰفِرِينَ أَوْلِيَآءَ مِن دُونِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ۚ أَيَبْتَغُونَ عِندَهُمُ ٱلْعِزَّةَ فَإِنَّ ٱلْعِزَّةَ لِلَّهِ جَمِيعًا

Translation

(The hypocrites are) Those who take the Kuffaar as friends instead of the Mu'mineen. Do they (the hypocrites) seek honour from them (the Kuffaar) ? Indeed all honour belongs to Allaah only (and can only be gained by obeying Allaah's commands).

Tafsir (excerpt) — التفسير الميسر

الذين يوالون الكافرين، ويتخذونهم أعوانًا لهم، ويتركون ولاية المؤمنين، ولا يرغبون في مودتهم. أيطلبون بذلك النصرة والمنعة عند الكافرين؟ إنهم لا يملكون ذلك، فالنصرة والعزة والقوة جميعها لله تعالى وحده.
